Wooxy at City Resilience Hack 2026: Building Safer Cities

A city's next big test could be a blackout, a storm, or a sudden spike in demand on emergency services. The teams that show up ready make all the difference.

That's exactly the kind of challenge City Resilience Hack 2026 was built to solve. This September, wooxy will be right there in the room helping build the answer.

We've been selected to run our own track at this year's event in Tallinn. We still haven't quite processed it, honestly.

City Resilience Hack 2026 runs September 24 and 25 at the Energy Discovery Centre in Tallinn, Estonia. The City of Tallinn and Tehnopol organize it together, inside Estonian Defence Week. Wooxy will be one of the teams in the room, running a track alongside mentors who've managed real crises for a living.

Tallinn isn't running the show alone. Valencia, Helsinki, Dnipro, and Lviv each bring a real problem from their own city hall.

Mentors on-site aren't generic startup coaches either. They include Siim Alatalu, who spent over a decade shaping Estonia's national cyber defence policy. Also Jako Vernik, who has run several of Estonia's largest national crisis exercises. Feedback here comes from people who've actually managed a crisis, not just simulated one.

The prize fund is €75,000. Winners get pilot access with a real city, plus a seat in Tehnopol's startup acceleration program. The event has already picked up coverage from SmartCitiesWorld, the industry outlet that tracks smart-city projects across Europe.

Every team at City Resilience Hack picks one of four challenge tracks. Each one maps to a gap a partner city is dealing with right now, and none of them are hypothetical.

Each track connects to something already happening in the real world. The market for smart-city platforms is growing fast, expected to jump from $24.5 billion to $39.5 billion by 2030. Resilient infrastructure is not just theory either. In March 2026, a drone from Russian airspace hit a power station in Auvere, Estonia.

That's exactly why this track exists.

Crisis communication is growing fast too. The market for mass alert systems is set to grow from about $10 billion to $26 billion by 2026.

Health resilience got tested for real during the April 2025 blackout in Spain and Portugal. Doctors in Lisbon had to write prescriptions by hand, because the power, phones, and internet all went out at once.

Teams need at least three people, and organizers are explicitly looking beyond developers, into design, health, logistics, and defence backgrounds too. Applications close September 10, and you can apply directly here.

Leading a track for two city governments isn't like walking a business through a demo. What City Resilience Hack needs, messaging that's fast, trustworthy, and impossible to fake, is basically what wooxy already does every day. Just with much higher stakes.

We already send across five channels from one account, so an urgent alert never gets stuck waiting behind a routine update. It's the same setup governments increasingly rely on to reach citizens. We walked in expecting a solid turnout. We walked out already talking about the next one. Watching founders, developers, and product people turn a rough idea into something real, in one weekend, is genuinely addictive.

We want more of that, not less. City Resilience Hack is exactly the kind of room we wanted to be back in.
