Viber Templates

In this article, we will show you how to create and manage your Viber Templates.

Viber is highly popular in Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, the Philippines, and Vietnam, making it an excellent platform for reaching a wide audience through bulk messaging and Viber message Templates.

Things to know before you start:

  • Viber channel is available for the Pro Plan and Enterprise Plan.
  • The first Viber message should be transactional.
  • You can use contact variables in your Templates like {{firstName}} to replace them with corresponding values from your Contact List.
  • You can use global variables and emojis in the Template body.
  • See the full list of system variables here.
  • IMPORTANT: You cannot create or manage Templates until the domain is added and verified in your account.
  • Pay attention to the role of the account user, because not everyone has access to create and manage Templates. More details in our article.
  • All accounts as well as those in Trial mode can begin using Templates once they have been approved. If such an account has not yet had its Template approved, it can only utilize the preview option.
  • If you delete your custom Sender Name, the system will switch the account back to the Default Sender Name.
  • A “URL shortener” is a tool that converts long URLs into short and more user-friendly links. You can use this tool in the Template’s body and button. It comes in handy because our system counts the number of symbols in the Template and the URL shortener allows you to include more necessary information in the message. Also, this tool will enable you to track links for further analytics aggregation
  • If you want to add your domain into the URL shortener – please, contact the support team via support@wooxy.com
  • IMPORTANT: We do not recommend including links in the Template with sensitive data (such as personal information, authentication tokens, verification codes, etc.) while also using a URL shortener. This is because link data can be easily replicated using special techniques.

Create your Template

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Navigate to the Templates management page (Menu->Content->Templates).

  • Click on the “Create” button.

  • Select the “Viber” channel.

  • Type in the name of your Template. Template name is the name of your Template, for your personal use. Try to name each Template wisely to not confuse yourself in the future and help yourself to understand the purpose of each email by its name.

  • Check this box if you intend to use this template for sending to the following countries: Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia.

    • In case you want to send the Template to above mentioned countries but haven’t marked the corresponding checkbox before saving this Template – such message delivery will fail.
  • You can use 4 layouts for your Viber message Templates.

  • Check all the Template components one more time and press the “Save” button.

    • IMPORTANT: After saving, the Viber template will be sent for moderation. This process may take some time as it ensures compliance with Viber’s standards and policies.

Viber messages types

At Wooxy, Viber messages can be categorized into two primary types: transactional and promotional.

  • Transactional Messages. These are messages that are typically informational or service-related in nature. Transactional messages are often sent in response to a specific action or trigger and aim to provide important information or assistance to the recipient. Examples include order confirmations, account alerts, appointment reminders, and one-time passwords for authentication.

  • Promotional Messages. Promotional messages are designed for marketing and promotional purposes. They are often used to promote products, services, special offers, or events. These messages are usually sent to a broader audience to generate interest and drive sales or engagement. Examples include product announcements, discount offers, and event promotions.

These two categories help businesses and organizations tailor their messaging strategies for different purposes and audiences. It’s important to note that some messaging platforms, including Viber, have specific guidelines and regulations regarding the use of promotional messages to protect users from spam and ensure a positive user experience.
