Segments
This article explains how to create and manage segments based on a chosen contact list.
Things to know before starting
- Segments are formed from user data provided via the API, manual entry, file import, or behavioral data collected by Wooxy.
- An unlimited number of Groups of conditions and individual conditions within each Group can be established.
- The "And/Or" operators can be managed independently within each Group, regardless of external Group structures.
- Groups support multi-filtering using the "AND" operator to group contacts that match all conditions simultaneously, or the "OR" operator to group contacts that match any single condition. When multiple groups are created, these operators can be applied globally at the top of the settings to define the logic between the groups.
- Segment recalculation requires a waiting period that depends on the size of the Contact List or the current processing queues.
- Segments not included in an Automation must be updated manually on the segment lists page or within the Segment itself.
- Segments used in Automations are periodically recalculated, with a final compliance check performed automatically before any communication is sent.
- The segment lists page displays the contact count from the last recalculation; actual numbers may fluctuate as contacts are added or removed in real-time.
- Manual recalculation is necessary after adding new contacts or updating information to ensure the Segment reflects current data.
- Deactivated contacts are excluded from Segments even if they meet all specified filtering conditions.
- One-time Segments can be created during Campaign setup using the "Add filter" option; these are not saved to the general Segment list and apply only to that specific Campaign.

Segment example
Wooxy offers numerous segmentation options based on user behavior and responses to communications sent via our platform, enabling maximum audience engagement. Below are practical examples of how to structure segments to achieve specific marketing goals.
Segments can be created based on any custom variable to target specific actions. For instance, by creating a variable named "paidAccount" and updating it to "1" immediately after a customer makes a purchase, paying users can be grouped together. This enables targeted promo codes to be delivered to this specific audience, encouraging repeat purchases and increasing overall sales.
Segmenting the audience by gender enables personalized offers. When a product range is diverse, certain items may be more attractive to one gender than another. Segmenting the audience this way ensures that the most relevant products are promoted to the right users, enhancing campaign effectiveness.
Multi-filter segments can be used to narrow the audience to a specific subset. For example, to target only New York City residents aged 20 or older, create a segment using the "AND" operator between the specified conditions. This precise targeting ensures the communication reaches only the intended demographic.
