This article describes how to use and manage the Viber log, providing details for all available parameters and metrics.

Things to know before starting

  • Template data for previewing is unavailable for messages with "expired",  "reject", or  "failed" statuses.
  • Template preview data in the Viber Log is retained for three days.
  • Viber Log analytics are retained for 3 months.
  • Viber Log reports are generated and aggregated in real-time.
  • Log parameters are displayed based on the account's designated time zone.

Step-by-step instructions

  • Navigate to the "Analytics" section.

  • Click the "Message Logs" button.

  • Choose the “Viber” tab.

  • Application of filters followed by clicking the “Search” button to refresh data.

  • Export data to XLSX or PDF using the “Create Export Task” button; exported logs are aligned with the account's time zone.

  • Use of the “Viber preview” button to inspect how the template appeared on the recipient's device.

  • Access to sending details via the “Info” button.

  • Direct access to contact profiles by clicking identifiers (available only for contacts in the Default Contact List).

Email log parameters and metrics

  • Filters

    • Domain - the domain name from which messages were sent; allows filtering reports by a specific domain if multiple are active.
    • Contact - the recipient's identifier (email address, phone number, or external system ID) used for detailed investigation.
    • Origin - a filter to generate reports based on up to 5 items from categories like Campaigns, A/B Tests, or registered Tags (searchable by name or ID).
    • Date range - a selector for a specific time period to generate reports containing data only from the defined dates.
  • Parameters

    • Status - the delivery state of the message: New (queued for sending), Delivered (successful), Failed (delivery error reported by the vendor), Rejected (blocked due to region limits, missing checkboxes for specific countries, or trial limits), or Expired (delivery failed within the set TTL).
    • Template - the name of the Viber template used, accompanied by the sending date and time according to the account's time zone.
    • Sender Name - the display name shown on the recipient's device.
    • To - recipient identifiers, including their phone number, email address, and internal system UserID.
    • Opens - tracking data used to measure engagement by showing the total number of message views and the specific dates they occurred.
    • Clicks - statistics on link interactions, indicating which contacts clicked and the total frequency of those clicks.
  • Details

    • Message ID - the unique identifier for each sent message.
    • Status - the current delivery state (New, Delivered, Rejected, Failed, or Expired).
    • Reason error - technical feedback explaining delivery failures, displayed when a message reaches "Failed" status.
    • Reject reason - detailed reason for rejection (e.g., unavailable channel, insufficient balance, exceeded limits, or restricted country settings).
    • Message type - the communication category: Campaign, A/B Test, or API (Send/Triggered).
    • Template / Campaign / A/B test - the specific name and ID of the resource used for the mailing.
    • Variant - the specific A/B test version name and its status (e.g., "Winner") if determined.
    • Iteration - the sequence number for recurring or replayed campaigns.
    • Sender Name - the display name and ID from which the Viber message was sent.
    • Tags - custom labels used to organize reporting structures and generate aggregated reports.
